PG-50+ Movie Reviews
Beyond 50 only recommends films that are creatively responsible to reveal the finest qualities of the human spirit; allow you to think and feel deeply about life; make your heart soar; and champion human rights.

Argo
A bizarre, edge of your seat film, it is based on the true story during the time of the Iranian hostage crisis.  The event took place a few months after demonstrators laid seige to the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.  Six U.S. consular officials escaped, taking shelter at the residence of a Canadian embassador for several months.  CIA Exfiltration expert Tony Mendez comes up with a cockamamie idea to save them: the six members will pose as a Canadian film crew scouting locations for their "Star Wars" - style space epic.  (In theatres everywhere; Genre: Mystery & Suspense, Drama; Running Time: 2 hrs.)

Looper
An engrossing story about destiny, the film is a mix of sci-fi and mob story that is set in the future, where time travel is used in secret by organizations to assasinate people.  In the year 2044, "loopers" are men ordered to stand and wait in a preset location at a particular time and await the arrival of a victim to be shot and killed.  The crime takes place 30 years in the past - making it untraceable.  The name "Loopers" is given to these Mafia assassins because they have also agreed to "close the loop" by killing their future selves.  (In theatres everywhere; Genre: Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense, Science Fiction & Fantasy; Running Time: 1 hr. 58 min.)

The Revisionaries
This is a compelling and engrossing documentary where the focus is on the Texas State Board of Education that is fueled by an elective body consisting of mostly right wingers manipulating their state's "standards" to push their  their ultra-conservative views on children, such as trampling the First Amendment, de-emphasizing Thomas Jefferson, promoting American exceptionalism, and denigrating Darwinism to make Creationism required curriculum. Unfortunately, Texas' textbook standards often, along with California's, dictate national standards. As Texas goes, so goes the nation?  (In Select Theatres; Genre: Documentary, Special Interest; Running Time: 1 hr., 33 min.)

Honorable Mentions:
Cloud Atlas

Fall's Genetically Modified Harvest

Beyond 50 encourages you to watch the new documentary called "Genetic Roulette" that is a shocking film (that is over 1 hour) to watch for FREE for a short time only.  Go to www.geneticroulettemovie.com.

Many of our crops and livestock have been genetically modified like a "mad science" project.  According to Matthew Stein of "When Technology Fails," he writes about how Nature has built-in safeguards to prevent tomatoes from crossing with avocadoes, monkeys with dogs, and flounder with tomatoes.  The modern genetic scientist has broken through this barrier.  For example, genes from a North Atlatnic flounder, which has a protein in its body that makes it resistant to freezing, were spliced into a tomato to make the tomato resistant to frost damage.

Shocking Video of Whole Foods Selling GMO Foods:
Censored by YouTube to reveal that 20 - 30% of food items sold by Whole Foods are genetically modified.   Go to www.naturalnews.com.

Reading Presidential Candidates
For Beyond 50's "Personal Growth" talks, listen to an interview with Patti Wood on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. (PT)/1 p.m. (ET).  She is the gold standard of body language experts.  With the national election coming up, you'll learn about the body language of President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney to find out if they are bending or speaking their truth.  Wood distills the science on how we form "SNAP" impressions into information we can use every day - on job interviews and sales calls, while meeting in person or on Match.com, during telephone calls or Skype conversations.

Patti Wood Offers Some Suggestions for President Obama:

1.     I suggest he come out strong, warm and charismatic before he begins speaking and make a strong positive first statement before he responds to the first questions.

2.     I would coach him and say, “President Obama, smile more as you make strong positive statements. When you speak about how great and hardworking Americans are and what this country is and has become. “

3.       He needs to relax his voice so he can use it to make us feel confident in him.

4.       He had great positive emotional moments and gestures in his DNC speech. He needs to pull some of that emotion and passion into the debates.

5.       He needs to gesture upwards above the waist as he speaks about where we can go to symbolically show he wants and can bring us joy and hope.

6.       He also needs and look up and out to the future.

Patti Wood Offers Some Suggestions for Mitt Romney:
 1.       The single most important piece of advice for Governor Romney is to show genuine warm emotion in his voice and body language.

2.       Governor Romney should move more to illustrate what he is saying so that we feel he is speaking sincerely.

3.       Gesture more over all. He can move and he needs to have more animated and passionate emotional movement, facial and vocal expression.

4.       He needs to be present in the moment and connect more with the audience.

5.       He needs to look out at everyone and then speak using the power of the pause.

6.       Make sure his emotions and his nonverbal messages are in sync.

7.       Be likable – Let his emotions show.

8.     He needs to show nonverbally he is not keeping anything from us.
