The Woman's Guide to Paying for Long Term Care
Without Going Broke
For Beyond 50's "Finance" talks, listen to an interview with Harold Lustig. He will talk about how to pay for long term care (LTC), even if you have little or no savings. Or that people in LTC who are far from their adult children have shorter life spans than those with children nearby? Another little known fact is that there are more than 40-percent of people in LTC who are under age 65 - which means it's really younger, healthier people who need to learn about and plan for LTC, not just seniors.

Date Therapy: Unlocking Your Subconscious Mind
"Dr. Tranquility" (Lydia Belton) has found that the reason many people make repeated mistakes in choosing their relationship partners is that they think they want certain characteristics, values and behaviors on a conscious level, but what they really want is hidden in the deep layers of their subconscious mind. Thus, they are picking partners who are destined to ultimately make them unhappy and are not a good match for who they are. Date therapy is designed to get past that using hypnotherapy to find someone who matches your true values.

Big Miracle

The event in 1988 galvanized a rare coalition of forces in conflict with one another for the rescue mission: President Reagan and Soviet officials, along with big oil and environmental activists. Called "Operation Breakthrough," the story was broken by TV reporter Adam Carlson. (Available in theatres everywhere; Genre: Drama, Action & Adventure, Romance, Comedy; Running Time: 1 hr., 46 min.)

SplintersSplinters
This is a unique documentary on the social impact of an indigenous community by the introduction of surfing in the 1980s by an Aussie pilot. Island boys in Vanimo fell in love with the sport - making their own boards called "splinters" from lightweight wood. The film follows four, native competitors going against professionals for national surfing titles. The local winner gets to train with surfing athletes in Australia. (Available in select theatres; Genre: Documentary, Sports & Fitness; Running Time: 1 hr., 35 min.)
